PGA Tour and U.S. Golf Association are part of the investigation.
The Department of Justice has included Augusta National Golf Club, the U.S. Golf Association (USGA), and the PGA of America in an antitrust probe it is currently conducting. The investigation, which began in July, seeks to determine whether or not the PGA Tour broke antitrust law in dealing with rival league LIV Golf.
Eleven pro golfers sued the PGA Tour in August after they were suspended from the tour for competing in LIV Golf’s new competition circuit, which is largely funded by Saudi Arabia. Augusta National is included in the probe due to concerns that golfers who have played the LIV will not be allowed at the Masters Tournament.
The PGA Tour and LIV Golf have each lobbied Congress to present their cases. Each organization has filed an antitrust suit against the other.
